SPRING 2009 SEASON WRAP UP
Another great season in the Sport Truck Series is in the books. The 9th season to be exact. We had 45 drivers run a race this year with an average of 20.3 drivers each race. We averaged 4.7 cautions for 19 laps each race. The 12 cautions at Mansfield and 10 at I-70 might have hurt the average a little. We had 6 races with 4 or fewer cautions incluiding 3 caution free races. We ran 1722 laps this season and Matt Watkins completed all but one and that was the first race of the year at Bristol. He still finished 8th in the race which would turn out to be just about his worse finish of the year. That just started him on his championship run. All in all, Matt had 5 wins, 16 top 5's and 19 top 10's out of 19 races. He also led a lap in all but 6 races and led the most laps 4 times. With an average finish opf 3.42, Matt pretty much dominated the sport trucks this year. He won the championship by an amazing 564 points. Great job Matt. Roy Cutshaw finished second in points this year by being very consistant. He had 3 top 5's and 12 top 10's out of the 19 races this year. Roy just keeps getting better every time he gets on the track. I'm sure he will improve those stats next season. Nice runner up finish Roy. Third place went to Slim Jim Gately this season. He amassed 5 wins, to tie Matt for the series lead this season, to go along with his 10 top 5's and 13 top 10's. Slim was quoted in the media tent saying "if I didn't miss those 4 races, I might of given Matt a run for his money". We will just have to wait and see. Maybe a little rivalry next season. Good job Slim. I'd like to congradulate Paul McAllister and Texas Nation for getting their first wins in the Sport Truck Series this season. Paul at Daytona and Texas at Kansas. Good job fellas. Congrats also goes out to Full Throttle Racing for the Team Championship thios season. That should just about do it for this season. I'd like to thank everyone who races this series for making it so easy on me to admin. I will be looking forward to another season starting at Daytona in July. Pat Cross

SERIES BACKGROUND
If you are looking for a very clean, entry level truck series, then look no further. This Sportsman Truck Series has it all. Every Sunday morning before any NASCAR races on TV, FSB drivers can get after it on the exact same tracks as the Pro Truck Series. This series schedule mirrors the Pro Trucks each week and was designed to be practice sessions for the Pro Trucks.
Years later, it has developed into a great series of it's own. Long green flag runs are common even on the shorter tracks the trucks run. Both of our truck series copy the real Craftsman Truck Series schedule as best we can. See a truck race on TV over the weekend? Race the same track Sunday. Pretty simple.
This series began years ago on Thursday nights. It instantly became a huge success. When the Pro Trucks moved to Thursdays, this series moved to the weekends and never fell off. First is was "Demon," then William Wallace took the reigns as the admin. Now, Pat Cross has the duty and does a kick ass job each Sunday morning. With 6 full seasons and over 110 events in the books, this series is one of the best here at fsb racing.
Start your Sunday off with Sportsman Trucks.... JR 1/4/08
